Parent Guidelines For Youth Attending An Activity Or Party

1. Know where your youth will be:
    - Obtain the address and phone number of the party giver
    - Let your youth know you expect a phone call if plans change
2. Contact parents of the party giver to:
    - Verify the occasion

    - Be sure a parent will be present
    - Ensure alcohol and other drugs will not be available
    - Offer assistance
3. Communicate concerns:
    - Discuss with your youth possible situations that might arise
    - Review school co-curricular codes regarding alcohol and drug use
    - Let them know where you can be reached
    - Agree on an acceptable curfew
    - Assure your youth that you or a specified friend can be called if needed
4. Be aware when your child arrives home
5. Verify overnight arrangements, planned or spontaneous
6. Remind your youth of the risks associated with underage drinking, such as: 

car accidents

alcohol poisoning

assault 

rape

pregnancy

STDs

vandalism

fights

addiction

suicide, etc.
