Decision Education

The mission of the Decision Education Foundation (DEF) is to improve the lives of young people by teaching them how to make better decisions. DEF believes that decision skills training helps young people succeed academically, as well as beyond the classroom in their personal lives. DEF takes a broad-based approach, using both head and heart that makes kids conscious of the many choices in their lives and gives them the tools to choose wisely.

What the foundation does:

  • train teachers and mentors nationwide in how to create and deliver decision skills training to students.
  • create and distribute curriculum that teaches and reinforces decision-making skills as a stand-alone course and within mainstream subject areas such as English, history, and math.
  • establish working partnerships with schools and youth-focused organizations committed to helping young people acquire, appreciate, and apply the fundamentals of good decision making.
